The Process of our Cigars

• 

  Dried flowers from the most robust tobacco plants, used to collect the seeds and then plant them.

• 

  A greenhouse seedbed guarantees a better quality plant.

• 

  The tobacco plant is taken care of in an indoors seedbed to decrease the chance of a plague infestation.

• 

  After 45 days in the seedbed the tobacco plant is ready to be removed.

• 

  The young plant is now transferred to the field where it will be harvested for another 45 days.

• 

  Height of the plant after growing in the field for 20 days with adequate water and temperature.

• 

  The tobacco plant 35 days after it was planted in the field.

• 

  Forty-five days after being planted, the plant is ready for its first cuts.

• 

  Leaves are selected based on their quality and the type of cuts of the plant.

• 

  Curing barn, or vega, where the leaves are hermetically sealed and placed to be dried.

• 

  After being harvested, tobacco leaves are bundled on stakes, known as cujes, and then strung on vegas, or racks, to be air-cured.

• 

  The rack-curing process lasts 50 days, during which the leaves dry at a temperature between 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit.

• 

  Dried and cured tobacco leaves, ready to be brought down.

• 

  Once they are dry, the leaves are brought down and stacked into large piles called “pilones”.

• 

  A pilón, made up of many tobacco leaves, which are placed one on top of the other.

• 

  Tobacco undergoes a fermentation process while stacked into pilones. As part of the process, thermometers are inserted to monitor their temperature.
